「大山祇神の娘です。」
「大山祇神は伊弉諾尊が軻遇突智を斬った時に生まれました。」

そして磐長姫は呪った。
「瓊瓊杵尊は私を返さないで妻にしていたら生まれる子の命は長かっただろう。

瓊瓊杵尊は木花開耶姫と一夜を共にした。
木花開耶姫は一夜で妊娠した。

そして木花開耶姫は部屋に火を付けた。
炎が燃え始め煙が出た時に子が生まれた。
木花開耶姫は火闌降命と名付けた。
熱を避けるようにしていた時に子が生まれた。
木花開耶姫は彦火火出見尊と名付けた。
その後に子が生まれた。
木花開耶姫は火明命と名付けた。
子どもが三人生まれた。
これを見て瓊瓊杵尊は言った。
「私は元々自分の子であると知っていた。
しかし、一夜で妊娠した事を疑う者もいる。
皆に自分の子であり、天の神の家系は一夜で妊娠させる事が出来ると知らせたかった。
木花開耶姫に不思議な力があり、子どもたちに他の人よりも優れている事を証明したかった。
この為、失礼な言葉を言った。
怒らせてすまなかった。」
暫くして瓊瓊杵尊は死んだ。
