この時、神は倭迹迹日百襲姫（ヤマトトトビモモソヒメ）に降りてきた。
そして言った。
「五十瓊は何故国が治まらない事を憂うのか。
もし私の事を敬い祀るなら自然に治まるだろう。」
五十瓊は尋ねた。
「あなたは誰ですか？」
神は答えた。
「私は大和の国の中に居ます。名前は大物主です。」
五十瓊はこの神のお告げを得て祀った。
しかし何も起こらなかった。
五十瓊は斎戒沐浴し、皇居の中を清め、祈って言った。
「私が神を敬う事が不十分でしょうか？
何故受け入れてくれないのでしょう？
どうか夢の中で教えてください。
神の恩恵を与えてください。」
この夜、五十瓊の夢に一人の貴人が現れた。
貴人は皇居内の施設に向かった。
そして言った。
「私は大物主だ。
五十瓊、あなたはそんなに憂慮しなくてよい。
国が治まらないのは私の心の影響だ。
もし私の子どもの大田田根子（オオタタネコ）に私を祀らせたら、国はすぐに治まるだろう。
また国外の国も降伏するだろう。」
