垂仁（スイニン）の９0年。春。２月１日。
活目（イクメ）は田道間守（タジマモリ）に「非時香菓（トキジクノカクノミ）」を探す命令をした。
活目は田道間守を常世の国に派遣した。
非時香菓は橘の実である。

垂仁の９９年。秋。７月１日。
活目は纒向（マキムク）宮殿で死んだ。
活目は１４０歳だった。
冬。１２月１０日。
活目を菅原の伏見陵に葬った。

翌年。春。３月１２日。
田道間守が常世の国から帰って来た。
田道間守は非時香菓を８枝８個持ち帰った。
田道間守は泣き嘆いた。
「私は命令を受けた。
私は遠く遥かな国に行った。
私は万里の波頭を越えて帰って来た。
常世の国は神仙の秘密の国でした。
俗人が行ける場所ではありません。

その為、私は行って帰るまでに１０年かかりました。

今、活目天皇はすでに死亡しました。

私は生きていても何の為になるでしょうか。」

田道間守は活目の墓にお参りした。

田道間守はそこで泣き叫んで死んだ。

諸侯、諸卿はこれを聞き泣いた。

田道間守は三宅（ミヤケ）一族の先祖です。
