五十瓊は開化天皇の第二子です。
五十瓊の母は伊香色謎命（イカガシコメ）です。

今私は大きな業を承り、国民をめぐみ・養う事になった。
私はどのようにして先祖の跡を継ぎ、果てしない地位を保とうか。
天皇に仕える人たちよ。
あなたたちの忠誠と節度の心を尽くして、私と共に天下を安らかにする事。
これは良いことだ。」
